About Devaragapuram

Established on April 22, 2016, as G. Devarajan Master Memorial Trust, Devaragapuram as a music research Institute took shape a year later, in 2017.

It is the fulfillment of the wish of music legend of Malayalam films, G Devarajan master, who wanted to establish a gurukulam model music institute in Trivandrum. The wish that could not be fulfilled in his lifetime due to declining health, was later realized by disciples and friends and was inaugurated by wife of master, Leelamani Devarajan, whom everyone lovingly call Amma.

The music industry stalwarts who took the initiative include Sreekumaran Thambi, Poovachal Khader, Perumbavoor G Ravindranath, Ramesh Narayan, Prof. Kumara Kerala Varma, Smt Lalitha Thambi and G. Sreeeram all of whom now form the Advisory Board. The institute is run under the eminent leadership of master’s close disciple and film music composer Satheesh Ramachandran, who is the director.

Devaragapuram has evolved into a global institute teaching all genres of music including Western, Eastern, Hindustani, Carnatic and Folk. Music streams taught include Vocals, Keyboard, Violin, Guitar, Piano, Mridangam, Tabala and more. Teachers are those who were close to master, so the music taught is deep and theoretically accurate.
